Our Story

How We Got Into Building Decks

We build and repair decks around Fort Lauderdale, mostly for people who want a spot to grill, sit outside in the evening, or get their pool deck fixed before summer company shows up. Most of us came up doing framing and finish carpentry before specializing in outdoor structures, where the wood, the weather and the building code all work against each other at once.

If you're on this page, there's a good chance a board's gone soft, a post has started to lean, or the stain job from a few years back is peeling in sheets. We check the framing before we touch the surface, because a new coat of stain over rotten joists just hides the problem for another season. Fixing what's underneath first is the only way the deck is still solid five years from now.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed and Insured

Any deck over 30 inches high needs a permit in most of Broward County, and we carry the license and insurance to pull it. Ask for certificates before any lumber shows up.

Permits Handled

Deck permits here mean a site plan, footing details and at least one inspection before the boards go down. We handle that paperwork and stand there for the inspection.

Clean Job Sites

Deck demolition leaves behind old boards, bent nails and a lot of sawdust. We bag it and haul it out at the end of each day, not just at the end of the job.

Written Quotes

Our quotes break out framing lumber, decking material and railing separately, so you can see where composite costs more than pressure-treated pine. No surprise change orders once we've started.

Our Own Crew

We don't hand your job off to a rotating list of subcontractors. The same guys who set your footings are the ones screwing down the last board.

Built for the Coast

Standard deck screws start bleeding rust within a year this close to the ocean. We spec stainless steel or coated fasteners rated for coastal exposure, plus hurricane straps where wind load calls for them.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about who's doing the work and how we operate.

How long has deck building been the focus of the work?
Deck construction and repair has been the focus of the work for years, building on backgrounds in framing and finish carpentry. Decks combine structural work, exterior finishing and code compliance in one job, which is part of why it became the specialty.
Is the crew in-house or subcontracted?
The same crew handles framing, decking and railing on each job rather than passing work between subcontractors. That keeps one team accountable for how the pieces fit together, from the footings to the final board.
Can past deck projects be seen before hiring?
Photos of completed deck installations, railing work and pool decks are available on request, including jobs similar in size or material to what's being considered. Seeing a composite deck or a stained pine deck in person locally can also be arranged.
Why choose a smaller deck builder over a larger company?
A smaller operation means the person who quotes a deck job is usually the person building it, so nothing gets lost between the estimate and the crew on site. Decisions about material changes or unexpected issues get made directly, without going through layers of office staff.
Where is the business based?
Work is based in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with deck jobs regularly done throughout the surrounding Broward County area.
How far in advance should a deck project be booked?
Scheduling varies by season, with spring and early summer being the busiest months for new deck installations ahead of pool season. Getting a quote a few weeks before a target start date is a reasonable rule of thumb.
Is the job site cleaned up during deck construction?
Old decking, offcuts, sawdust and packaging get cleared out at the end of each work day, not left piled up until the job wraps. A final walkthrough for stray fasteners and debris happens before a deck job is called complete.
What happens if something gets damaged during deck work?
General liability insurance covers accidental damage to a home or property during deck construction, and any incident is addressed directly rather than argued over. Certificates of insurance are provided before work begins so that's confirmed upfront.
Will a deck another contractor started or left unfinished get finished?
Taking over a partially built deck is possible, but it starts with an inspection of the existing framing to check it meets code and was built to hold the intended load. Depending on what's there, some of the existing work may need to come out before continuing.
How can a homeowner check that deck work is being done correctly?
Permitted deck work gets checked by a county inspector at set points during construction, usually after footings and framing are complete, which is one built-in way to verify the structure. Asking to see joist spacing, fastener type and footing depth directly is reasonable at any point during the job.
